Jonathan Kearns

Born in Dublin, Ireland, Jonathan graduated from University College Dublin, National University School of Architecture in 1974 with a controversial environmental thesis project on the subject of architectural and planning controls in the West of Ireland Gaeltacht. In 1975, Jonathan emigrated, working in Canada and Brazil before settling in Toronto and founding Kearns Mancini Architects in 1984 with his business partner Tony Mancini. In the service of Kearns Mancini’s Canadian and international client base, Jonathan has used his vision, strong leadership and motivational skills to drive integrated design projects in Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, West Africa, Brazil, Malaysia, and Taiwan. Jonathan is a professional with creative vision. That vision embraces social, cultural, contextual, functional, economic, and political realities and delivers the results in an enlightened architectural format with great attention to detail. As a design architect, Jonathan likes to approach each design task from first principles and apply his imagination to finding innovative and effective solutions to design problems. Jonathan is an advocate and early adapter of Passive House and has worked on multiple PH projects, including an EnerPHit of a 19th century farmhouse in Ontario and large scale affordable PH projects in Hamilton and Windsor, Ontario.
