This presentation will explore the key findings of a post-occupancy evaluation of two Passive House certified buildings, a sixplex in BC and a low-rise multi-unit residential building (MURB) in Ottawa. The best practices gleaned from these constructed projects will provide insights into pragmatic high-performance housing strategies. The technical analyses will touch on the affordable, energy efficient design and dive into lessons learned from divergent outcomes including modelled vs. actual energy use, building overheating, acoustic noise, indoor air quality, thermal bridge infrared thermography, durability, tenant comfort and feedback. The speaker will address design challenges, costing pain points, and some mitigating technical solutions implemented over the initial year of occupancy.
